Welcome back, I’m glad you decided to continue reading!! To begin this post, I just want to say that I am already enjoying this project so much and I cannot wait to see how my finished result will look like! I also already gathered 3 of my friends that are willing to help me out and be my models!! I am beyond excited! But now it is time to break the excitement and begin. As I mentioned in my previous post, one of my headlines will be “Get Your Spring Bake On”, so I decided that I will most likely write my story for my 2 pages spread about that. I am still not sure if I want to do it as an interview style, or as an informative article. But I have time to figure that out so that is not my biggest worry, but it is an idea that I will have to come back to. As I was looking at some “Glamour” magazines that have a 2-page table of contents, I stumbled upon quite a couple of them that had at least an ad on one page that divided the table of contents. I definitely will have more advertisements, I think I will most likely settle on 2, but I definitely know that I want to include at least one in between my table of contents. For fashion and beauty magazines, it is very common since there are millions of products in the market, and new ones are always coming out. With that in mind, I figured that an ad for a loose face powder would be fitting because of the story regarding baking, which is done with a loose face powder! I own a loose face powder (called "Coty Airspun Powder") that I was already planning on using for the makeup for the photos, so this is perfect! Obviously, I cannot show the product’s name or brand, but that will not be hard at all because those 2 things are only located on the top of the lid, which will be very easy to hide during the photoshoot. The packaging itself is clear, with an orange lid and the label on top of it; by turning it over and having the powder be open, the brand is perfectly out of sight.
My only issue with this idea is that I want it to be a shade inclusive product, but I only have the translucent version, and they don’t even make more shades that I could get a hold of. I have an idea that may work but I am not 100% it will be successful. I could either buy a couple of shades of other powder and then break it up to be loose powder, or the crazier version, I could use cocoa powder to mix in with a bit of the lighter face powder to create a variety of shades. Yes, that makes me sound crazy but I do have some hopes of it working. The good thing is that for loose powders, the shades can vary but there doesn’t have to be a ton of them because the purpose is not to add color, just longevity for the makeup.
As for the brand and name that I will choose for the advertisement I have an idea for that as well. The name of the product itself is very simple and straight to the point- “Loose Baking Powder”. The name of the brand- “Pavva”. The name has a little story behind it so I will briefly explain: My friend’s last name is Parra and one day she wrote it but her r looked like v so we all read it “Pavva”. For some reason, my friends and I loved the name and think it sounds professional and aesthetic. I asked her permission to see if she would let me use it and thankfully she said that I could!
I am very relieved that I am starting to figure some things out, and even though they are minor, in the end, they have a very important role in the magazine. So far, I have started to come up with some ideas regarding the photoshoots, but that is for another post! Trust me it will be long and detailed but it will totally be worth it!
I hope you stick around,
Tini
